One development that was connected to humans moving from their nomadic style, when they obtained their food by hunting larger animals and collecting wide berries, to a settled lifestyle was the neolithic revolution, also known as the agricultural revolution. In this revolution people started domesticating plants and animals which allowed to to settle.
