In
this reaction, potassium hydroxide (KOH) is the strong base and nickel(II)
bromide (NiBr2) has characteristics of a Lewis acid. One of the products is
potassium bromide (KBr), an ionic salt. The other one is the precipitate, nickel(II)
hydroxide Ni(OH)2, that appears as apple-green powder.
