Greetings!

[tex]12-3(x+1)=30[/tex]
Distribute the Parenthesis.
[tex]12-3x-3=30[/tex]
Combine like terms.
[tex]9-3x=30[/tex]
Add -9 to both sides.
[tex](15-3x)+(-9)=(30)+(-9)[/tex]
[tex]-3x=21[/tex]
Divide both sides by -3.
[tex](-3x)/-3=(21)/-3[/tex]
The Answer Is:
[tex]x=-7[/tex]

Hope this helps.
