A number y (y) minus 1/2 (-1/2) is no more (≤) than -3/2 (-3/2).
Now write only the parenthesis.
y -1/2 ≤ -3/2 is your inequality.
If you are looking for the answer, add 1/2 to both sides.
y≤ -2/2
Simplify
y ≤ -1.
