If you are talking about 2x^2 + x + 6 then the intervals would be decreasing based on where it is based on the vertex,
-b/2a = -1/2, plug -1/2 in 1/2 -1/2 + 6 = 6, vertex = (-1/2, 6) so the equation is decreasing (infinity) > x > -1/2
