Let, Ben's peanuts = x
Jen's peanuts = 10x

It would be: x + 10x = 396
11x = 396
x = 396/11
x = 36
So, 10x = 36(10) = 360

In short, Ben's Peanuts = 36
and Jen's Peanuts = 360

Hope this helps!

Bens peanuts would be X
and Jen's peanuts would be 10x (because Jen ate 10 times more peanuts then Ben [ x ] )
Written out it would be x + 10x = 396
add the X's to get
11x = 396
divide by 11 to get x by itself.

x = 396/11
x = 36
So, 10x = 36(10) = 360

Then Ben's Peanuts = 36
and Jen's Peanuts = 360
