The third way of showing empathy is stagnation. In other words not doing anything or taking any action. This is because by not doing anything you are showing that your full attention is on the other person which also shows that you are listening to them and care about what they have to say as well as how they feel. If you are performing other actions while the individual is talking then it shows that you are busy and simply lack empathy towards their situation.
