Solve the system of equations:

y = 2x – 3
y = x2 – 2x – 8

first, simplify:

2x - 3 = x^2 - 2x - 8

now add/subtract like coefficients from each side:


2x - 3 = x^2 - 2x - 8
-2x +3 -2x +3

and you get:

x^2 - 4x - 5
