The dull-colored traits will likely die out over several generations as the ones with bright-colored traits live to reproduce more. Eventually the trait will die out if it doesn’t help with survival and reproduction.

Over time, the dull-colored traits will become less common because of natural selection, which favors the bright-colored organisms. The dull-colored trait may gradually disappear from the population completely.
