why is the modern age called the age of science and technology?

Because that is everything people rely and believe now. Not religion. What they read on their phone is true, even if it's fake news, someone is going to believe it's true. No one believes in a "God" or "Gods" that much anymore because of science, people are believing the science behind everything being put into place.
